Microseism Mechanism

High-frequency geophones are usually used in industrial projects. The low cost and ease of deployment also allow these instruments to be deployed in very large numbers. The recordings of such instruments can hardly be used to determine the rupture mechanism of microseisms. This is mainly due to bandwidth limitations imposed by industrial noises and the frequency response of the instruments.

In SeisAnalysis AS we use innovative techniques to extract the required information for determining the focal mechanism of microseisms from these vastly deployed high-frequency geophones.

The pattern of changes in the recordings of a dense network can be used to determine the focal mechanism of microseisms.
